Healing Hug

Couples who hug, kiss and otherwise find ways to get close everyday have fewer stress hormones, coursing through their bodies! In a new study, for one week working couples living together kept detailed records of their daily activities, including instances of physical affection with their partner, and collected saliva samples. Researchers measured the daily fluctuations in cortisol levels. "Physical affection" included anything from holding hands, kissing, to hugging to bedroom gymnastics. The couples also recorded their moods at various points of each day. In general the researchers found that the more physical affection couples reported in a given day, the lower the cortisol levels were.  Lower cortisol levels reflect less stress and thats good for your health.

So give your partner a hug today and feel the stress melt away!
