How To Calm A Crying Baby

How to Calm a Crying Baby in 5 Easy Steps!

1. Nuture Yourself

The health of the motherhas an effect on the whole family - including the new baby - so take steps to maintain energy by eating right and getting enough rest!

There is a saying "A happy mummy makes a happy home!"

2. Bath Your Baby

This will often soothe and relax a crying baby. Run a deep, warm bath so your baby can "float". Check the water temperature. Support the baby in the water. There are products out there with lavender and chamomile in them which help to settle babies as well which are worth taking a look at!

3. Hold Your Baby Close

You can put your baby in a sling and it will keep your hands free while baby is comforted by your body - bonding aides neurological development.

4. Learn To Identify Baby's Signals

Hunger cues include sucking noises and putting his/her hand in babies mouth. Don't put dummy in when baby spits it out as it blocks communication.

5. Sing To Your Baby

Studies show babies just 24 hours old can recognise their mother's voice. It is best that you gently hum or sing, instead of playing a CD.

Most importantly love your baby, your can't give your baby too much love!

Love and happy parenting to you,

Vicki
